All lanes reopen on SB I-75 after tanker fire

The road could be closed as late as 2 p.m.
A tanker truck carrying 8,500 gallons of diesel fuel is on fire and causing traffic backups in Hillsborough County this Wednesday morning.

Apollo Beach, Florida -- A tanker truck carrying 8,500 gallons of diesel fuel caught fire Wednesday morning, causing serious backups on I-75 near Big Bend Road.

Sources from the scene say the driver reportedly hit debris on the interstate and the tire caught fire causing the cab to catch fire.

The tank was carrying 8,500 gallons diesel fuel which luckily did not catch fire. The driver was not injured.

Both lanes are open as of 1:30 p.m.
