A 23-year-old driver was killed in a wrong-way crash Thursday afternoon, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
About 4:20 p.m., a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was headed northbound on State Road 33 near Epicenter Boulevard when for unknown reasons the SUV crossed into the southbound lanes.
The Hyundai collided nearly head-on with a semi. The driver was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi was not hurt.
The road was closed for about four hours. No charges are expected.
