OVIEDO, Fla. — A Florida mayor is being accused of threatening to kill his neighbors over an incident with his daughter.

Oviedo Mayor Dominic Persampiere was in a heated argument with his neighbors after his daughter was chasing a cat and on the neighbors' property, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

The neighbors thought she was snapping photos of the home to report it to the homeowners association. The mayor's wife is president of the homeowners association.

The 26-year-old daughter was confronted by the neighbors as she was reportedly searching for her pet in the front of the home around 8:45 p.m.

The neighbor started to record the heated argument on their phone, CBS affiliate WKMG reports

In the video, Persampiere is seen on the video saying, "You ever talk to my kid like that again I'll get my gun and I'll come over there and I'll (expletive) kill you. Take my picture, here I am, record this. She lost her damn cat. Go ahead put it on Facebook, you're both (expletive) (expletives)," according to the police report.

He told WKMG that the neighbors threatened his daughter with their dog, which is a police K-9.

Persampiere provided the following written statement to WKMG:

"When my daughter was verbally assaulted while looking for her lost cat and then threatened with a K9-trained German shepherd, I went into 'protective dad' mode. For many years, this family has antagonized and threatened my wife in her role as HOA president. I will not accept them doing the same to my daughter."

He admitted he "could have chosen his words better."

The officer decided that charges were not appropriate since Persampiere was not armed and it appeared to be an ongoing neighbor conflict.
