NAPLES, Fla. - A Florida Highway Patrol trooper saved a woman's life after she crashed along Alligator Alley Wednesday night - then arrested her once she was released from the hospital.
Trooper John Greisheimer came across an unresponsive woman after responding to a crash on I-75 eastbound at mile marker 85 at about 11:45 p.m.
"The trooper’s attempts to wake the unresponsive female were unsuccessful," the agency said in a statement. "Concerned for her wellbeing, the trooper broke the rear passenger window to gain access only to discover the female did not have a pulse."
Greisheimer then broke the driver's side window and removed the woman from the vehicle.
"The trooper carried the female out of the vehicle, determined she was not breathing and began to administer CPR, which revived her a short time later," the agency said.
The woman, Cory Lynn Webster, 32, of Delray Beach, was treated and released from Physicians Regional Hospital.
Then she was arrested by Greisheimer for driving under the influence - her third violation in 10 years - and driving with a suspended license.
Her alcohol concentration level was .039, troopers said.
