Lithia man dies in multivehicle crash

One man is dead after a car pulled in front of a tractor-trailer Tuesday on Lithia-Pinecrest Road in eastern Hillsborough County.

Hillsborough County, FL - One man is dead after a car pulled in front of a tractor-trailer Tuesday on Lithia-Pinecrest Road in eastern Hillsborough County.

About noon Tuesday, a 2007 Chevrolet Impala driven by Shereen E. Aziz, 45, pulled onto Lithia-Pinecrest Road from a private driveway to head east.

Aziz failed to see a Freightliner tractor trailer, pulling a trailer loaded with a railroad rail car, traveling east on Lithia-Pinecrest at 45 mph.

The tractor driven by Shane W. Howard tried to avoid striking the Impala and veered left, when he corrected to pull back into his lane of travel, the rail car separated from the trailer.

The rail car struck a 2001 Dodge 2500 truck, pulling an enclosed trailer. Michael Warren Liverett, 45, of Lithia, was trapped inside the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Florida Department of Transportation is assisting with the inspection of the tractor/trailer. Charges are pending.

The road was closed for several hours and reopened about 9:45 p.m.
