SOUTHWEST RANCHES, Fla. — A woman who appears to be singer Sean Kingston’s mother was arrested at his South Florida mansion after law enforcement raided the home on Thursday.
Video from a CBS chopper shows several officers, including the mobile command unit, at the Southwest Ranches mansion, where the Jamaican-American singer and rapper lives according to court documents from February. A property records search shows the house is owned by an LLC.
Kingston, 34, is best known for his songs “Beautiful Girls,” "Fire Burning" and “Eenie Meenie” with Justin Bieber.
CBS Miami reported that a lawyer at the house, who has a civil case against Kingston, said it involved fraud.
The woman arrested is Kingston's mother 61-year-old Janice Turner, who is facing fraud and theft charges, according to the Miami Herald.
The sheriff's office has not said what prompted the investigation, and officials have not announced if Kingston is facing charges.
A complaint was filed against Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Anderson, in February after Ver Ver Entrainment, an equipment rental company accused him of not paying for a TV and sound system, according to Broward County court records.
Kingston allegedly told the company he had a current working relationship with Justin Bieber and promised the company he would produce promotional videos of the business with Bieber. The company installed a $30,000 TV and sound system, but Kingston allegedly never paid for it and didn't film the videos, according to the complaint.
Kingston has a history of fraud with multiple instances of him buying watches upwards of $300,000 and not paying for them, according to the complaint.
In 2011, he was in the ICU seriously hurt after he crashed a personal watercraft. He and a woman were on the watercraft when it hit the Palm Island Bridge.
