TAMPA, Fla. — It's almost that time of year again — kids will be cheering as the last school bell rings, signaling the start of summer vacation.
With schools letting out in a few weeks, along with the kickoff of summer, there's likely to be an increase in vacationers across the Tampa Bay area soaking up the sun, going to the beach and doing various activities.
Locally, many students will go to camp, play sports and more. Because of this, traffic could be a headache for both vacationers and workers.
When exactly are Tampa Bay area schools letting out?
Most school districts in the Tampa Bay area will release students on the Friday before Memorial Day. However, a few districts will still be in session during the final week of May.

How many visitors are expected in Florida this year?
Earlier this year, AAA experts said they expect a busy spring and summer travel season, kicked off last month by spring break travelers.
Between now and July, Florida will likely see a peak in travelers flocking to the state, AAA added. In 2023, about 135 million people visited Florida, according to VISIT FLORIDA data estimates.
This does not include the number of Floridians who vacationed within the Sunshine State.
