LAKELAND, Fla. — We’re happy to announce Lake Gibson High School in Polk County as our 10News School the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
Walking on this campus and you instantly feel the school pride. One of the focuses of the administration is to recognize students for their achievements. New this year, are the high-five signs.
Any student that received a five on a state exam earned a sign delivered by one of the school’s staff members.
Two years ago, the Top Ten wall began. It features the top ten students, based on GPA, for each grade level. It’s updated each semester and many students found it motivating as a goal to achieve and not just a form of recognition.
The Braves aren’t just succeeding in the classroom. Just recently, the wrestling team earned the title of back-to-back state championships and the cheerleading team placed third in the state.
Add all of this in with the variety of academies offered and you just begin to scratch the surface of Lake Gibson High School.
It’s easy to see why it’s our 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
