County-by-county: When schools will reopen in Tampa Bay after Hurricane Helene

While some school districts are slated to reopen this Monday, others are still assessing damage caused by the storm.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — As communities across Tampa Bay continue recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene brought severe flooding and storm surge to the region, school districts across the Tampa Bay area are announcing when they will be reopening.

Here's a county-by-county list of when schools will reopen across Tampa Bay:

Pinellas County Schools

Pinellas County Schools will be open on Monday for normal operations, except for Gulf Beaches Elementary, Madeira Beach Fundamental K-8 and Disston Academy, the county announced on Saturday.

"Gulf Beaches Elementary and Madeira Beach Fundamental K-8 have been severely impacted by storm surge from Hurricane Helene and will remain closed to students until Wednesday, October 2. Disston Academy will stay closed until October 2 as part of the district's post-storm recovery plan," a news release says.

The district's plan to get kids back into the classroom will impact the Lealman Innovation, Osceola Fundamental and Walsingham Elementary school communities.

The Pinellas County School District superintendent, Kevin Hendrick, provided an update at a press conference at 9 a.m. Sunday. For that story and for an update on Lealman Innovation, Osceola Fundamental and Walsingham Elementary schools, tap here.
