We’re happy to announce Cypress Woods Elementary as our 10News School the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
If you live in the Palm Harbor area, you might already know about the school’s yearly recognition of Veterans Day.
It’s open to the public draws a large crowd every time they have it.
It’s not the only way students show their school pride. Just last week, the Eagle-Thon – which is a walk-a-thon – took place and students raised more than $38,000 for their school.
This year’s theme is “Unleash the Superhero in You” and students have really taken to it this year. Check out their school pride by searching social media for #CWEaglePride.
Pretty unique to this school is how they use the School Enrichment Model (SEM).
Each year, the school distributes an interest survey to the students. Based on those interests, the school develops a nine-day “camp” where students are clustered together and spend one hour a day in an activity.
Part of that activity will be to develop a project to benefit the community based on the interest. This school also offers STEM academies for students in grades 2-5.
With everything happening on this campus, it’s easy to see why Cypress Woods Elementary is 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida.
If you have a recommendation for 10News School of the Week powered by Duke Energy Florida, email us the name of the school and tell us why they should be featured to 10schools@wtsp.com. We’re looking for elementary, middle and high schools.
