ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A woman who was walking her bicycle across the road was hit and killed by a driver who was allegedly under the influence, police said
Haylee Concepcion, 25, was attempting to cross 54th Avenue South in a marked crosswalk around 9 p.m. Tuesday when a black Jeep made a left turn from 31st Street South and hit her, the St. Petersburg Police Department said in a media release.
She was reportedly taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on Wednesday.
The left turn was legal and the driver, Richard Wilson, was turning under a steady green arrow. When police arrived on the scene, they determined Wilson showed signs of impairment, and he was arrested for driving under the influence, according to the department.
