TAMPA, Fla. — A woman was found dead Monday morning in a Tampa neighborhood with "upper body trauma," according to the Tampa Police Department.
Officers got a call around 8 a.m. reporting someone "deceased" in the North Nebraska and Powhatan avenues. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and a homicide investigation was opened.
Tampa police said detectives are actively working on figuring out what led up to the woman's death, as well as identifying a suspect in her killing.
According to a statement, there is no believed threat to the community.
