LAKE WALES, Fla. — A woman was arrested after she allegedly stole items from a recreation hall at a Lake Wales fish camp, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
Melissa Campbell, 32, was arrested on Sept. 5 for stealing various power tools and other items from the recreation hall, the agency said. She is reportedly charged with burglary and petit theft.
While looking at photos during the investigation, one deputy recognized Campbell and mentioned that she had been booked in the Polk County Jail "a time or two. Or ten," according to the sheriff's office.
Campbell was found on Fast Trot Trail before she was arrested, deputies said. She reportedly told the sheriff's office that the recreation hall was unlocked and thought it was public property.
"She told detectives that she couldn’t remember what she did with the stolen items. Although we know one thing she didn’t do with the items---leave them alone," the sheriff's office said in the Facebook post.
