CAPE CORAL, Fla. — An 18-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly leading Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a chase Wednesday night in Cape Coral, the agency said in a news release.
Aleigha Dekeyser was arrested on several charges, including eluding police and reckless driving. Around 8:53 p.m., FHP said they tried to stop Dekeyser for a traffic violation before she took off in her 2018 Dodge Charger.
The 18-year-old reportedly reached speeds of 100 mph while driving on the wrong side of the road with blacked out headlights.
Troopers were able to get Dekeyser's car to stall with a pit maneuver before she was arrested and booked into the Lee County Jail. She has been charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and felony drug possession.
