WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. — A student was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly posting online threats against Wiregrass Ranch High School in Wesley Chapel, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.

The student is charged with written threats to kill and unlawful use of a two-way communication device, according to deputies. The threats reportedly put Wiregrass and other schools in the area on alert campus status as the sheriff's office investigated the threat.

Deputies confirmed there was no threat to the school.

"PSO once again urges parents and guardians to speak with their children about the consequences of making threats and the dangers of sharing threats and rumors instead of reporting them immediately to law enforcement," deputies stated in the post.
