WIMAUMA, Fla. — A man accused of killing a person in Wimauma about two months ago is behind bars after he turned himself in on Monday, authorities say.
Osmin Castillo, 21, was charged with second-degree murder with a weapon, possession of child pornography, lewd and lascivious battery, in state transmission of child pornography by electronic device and use of a child in a sexual performance.
At around 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 23, authorities responded to a report of a person getting killed following a domestic altercation in the 3300 block of Sanchez Ranch Lane, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
The "domestic situation" reportedly escalated into a "brutal murder."
The agency said when deputies arrived at the home, they found a man with upper body trauma.
A warrant was then obtained for Castillo for second-degree murder.
The sheriff's office says during their investigation, they also discovered that Castillo sexually battered a child under the age of 16.
"Today, justice prevailed as our deputies removed another dangerous criminal from our streets," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "The arrest of this individual responsible for this homicide and these other heinous crimes serves as a testament to the dedication of our team here at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office."
Castillo turned himself into the Orient Road Jail.
