WEEKI WACHEE GARDENS, Fla. — Two teens were arrested two weeks after unidentified suspects broke into the Weeki Wachee Outpost and stole ice cream and cigarillos.

The break-in happened on July 14. The suspects were caught on video surveillance wearing hoodies, pants and ski masks with backpacks on, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.

Eleven days later, patrol deputies responded to an unrelated incident on Dalewood Drive in Weeki Wachee.

While investigating the call, the deputies were advised by people on the scene that the two responsible for the break-in lived at the house the deputies were initially responding to, according to a news release.

While they investigated, detectives said they saw one of the teens wearing the same pants as one of the suspects, and the other was wearing a ski mask. One of the backpacks from the robbery was also reportedly present in the house.

The people on the scene also reportedly showed detectives where the teens had thrown away the ice cream containers and cigarillos.

A 15-year-old and a 14-year-old were taken into custody. During interviews, the teens identified themselves as the people in the surveillance video. The 15-year-old admitted it was his idea and that the 14-year-old was only following his lead, according to an HCSO release.

The 14-year-old reportedly refused to speak with detectives.

Both teens were arrested for burglary of an unoccupied structure. They were later released back to their parents.
