ORMOND-BY-THE-SEA, Fla. — A sniper reportedly killed a man who deputies said fired about 200 bullets at his neighbors' homes and deputies' patrol cars on Thanksgiving in Volusia County.
The sheriff's office said Joseph DiFusco started shooting Thursday morning outside his condo at Kingston Shores and at neighboring condo units. While inside his home, deputies said he shot at a sheriff's office vehicle.
After the shooting started, the sheriff's office said DiFusco's neighbors were evacuated from the area, people were told to stay away and traffic was rerouted.
For several hours, DiFusco reportedly kept shooting, more than 200 rounds before a sheriff's office sniper shot and killed him.
No one else was hurt during the shooting.
Photos shared by the sheriff's office show numerous bullet holes left behind in the condo building.
"We would like to thank everyone for their cooperation, patience, and prayers during this potentially dangerous incident," the sheriff's office said on Facebook.
