ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 51-year-old Uber driver was charged with sexual battery and false imprisonment on Wednesday in St. Petersburg, according to a news release.
Investigators says around 6:24 a.m., Jose Antonio Canales Sanchez picked up a 32-year-old woman in his vehicle.
Before reaching her destination, he pulled into a parking lot and entered the backseat where the woman was sitting, the department said in a statement. Sanchez then reportedly tried to touch her inappropriately and undress her against her will
The woman fought Sanchez off and escaped from the vehicle. Police arrested and charged Sanchez later that day.
