2 Florida teens arrested for written shooting threats toward Pinellas County high school

SEMINOLE, Fla. — Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested two teens accused of written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting at Osceola Fundamental High School in Seminole, the agency said in a news release.

Deputies said on Aug. 4, a 15-year-old sent a Snapchat photo to a 17-year-old, that read, "I just wanna shoot Osceola Fundamental High School up."

The teen who received the message reportedly took a screenshot of the message and did not report it to the sheriff's office. 

On Tuesday, he reposted the message to his own Snapchat account as a "happy birthday" post for the 15-year-old, according to deputies.

Detectives reportedly made contact with both of the teens before arresting and charging them with written threats to kill or conduct a mass shooting, the sheriff's office said. 10 Tampa Bay is not identifying either of them due to their age.

"The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office remains committed to keeping our schools, our children, and our community safe," the agency stated in the release.

Deputies said anyone with information on similar threats can call the sheriff's office at 727-582-6200.
