TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. — A man was killed early Tuesday morning at a home in Tarpon Springs.
Police said they were called at 2:42 a.m. about a "disturbance" happening at a house on Clarissa Court off Curlew Place. When officers got there, they found a 45-year-old man inside with a gunshot wound, according to a news release.
Another person in the home, 54-year-old Richard Lewis, told police "that he shot the victim," officials said.
Authorities said the two men were friends and roommates. They also mentioned police had never been called out to that home before for an incident involving the two.
Emergency medical crews started to treat the victim at the scene while they transported him to a local hospital, the Tarpon Springs Police Department said. He was pronounced dead about one hour after the initial call, at 3:57 a.m.
The man who fired the gun was taken into custody and police began investigating what led up to the incident, they said.
In an update mid-morning Tuesday, police said Lewis faces a charge of first-degree murder.
