Man arrested after knife attack closes Tampa Walmart

Police say the attack occurred after an argument escalated between a vendor and a group of people, leaving one man hospitalized.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police have arrested a man for attacking someone with a knife at a Walmart Saturday afternoon.

Jhustin ViloriaJimenez, 18, is being charged with culpable negligence actual injury, the Tampa Police Department said in a news release.

Officers responded to the altercation at 1:39 p.m. at the store located at 1505 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa police said.

Police said the incident occurred after an argument escalated between a vendor and a group of people, as ViloriaJimenez reportedly pulled out a knife and cut another man.

The victim was reportedly transported to a hospital with "serious, but non-life-threatening injuries," authorities said in the release. 

The store remained closed as police investigated, but has reopened. Police say detectives are working to determine the events leading up to the altercation.
