Police said Teddy Baltimore Smith, 44, was arrested about 10 p.m. Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder.

Tampa police say they have made an arrest in a road rage incident that took a man's life Wednesday.

Police said Teddy Baltimore Smith, 44, was arrested about 10 p.m. Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder.

The incident happened at around 11:20 am in the westbound lanes of Fowler Avenue near I-275. It ended, say police, near 109th and Ashley Drive.

A Dodge Ram truck and dark BMW were both stopped in the westbound lanes, with the BMW on the right side of the truck.

The passenger in the truck -- Gilbert Serna, 56 -- apparently spat out the window of the truck as the two vehicles were stopped. The driver of the BMW - later identified as Smith -- got out of his car to confront Serna.

Smith, say witnesses, stabbed Serna in the pickup, then got back in the BMW.

Tampa police released video of the BMW Wednesday evening.

Police say the man driving the pickup truck followed the BMW as far as he could before deciding he needed to stop and get aid for Serna, who died from his wounds.

Thursday, police said they had found the vehicle and driver, though they did not release his name.

Later Thursday, they said they had made an arrest.

Jail records show several previous arrests for Smith, including on charges of battery, false imprisonment, possessing marijuana and aggravated assault.
