Hillsborough sheriff investigates suspected murder-suicide at Tampa hospital

It remains unclear what led up to the deadly shooting.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office identified two people found dead by apparent gunshot wounds in a suspected murder-suicide.

Zelica Martucci, 67, and Philip Martucci, 75,  were located just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at HCA Florida West Tampa Hospital, located on Webb Road, according to a sheriff's office news release.

It's believed that Philip Martucci shot Zelica Martucci before turning the gun on himself, deputies said. Their exact relationship and what led up to the shooting was not immediately known.

"This is an unimaginable tragedy, and our hearts break for the families and loved ones affected by this senseless loss," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "Violence like this is never the solution. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone impacted by this tragedy."

The sheriff's office said they believed this deadly shooting was an isolated incident and that the public wasn't in danger.
