TAMPA, Fla. — Footage from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office showed a Tampa resident making "dirt angels" on the ground at a construction site while hiding from deputies.
According to a social media post from the HCSO, the moment was captured shortly after 7 p.m. Christmas Eve when deputies responded to a report of a car crash at East Bearss Avenue and North Nebraska Avenue.
When a deputy approached the driver, identified as 34-year-old Eliezer Rios, he reportedly ran away on foot, ignoring calls to stop, and jumped a nearby fence into a construction site.
HCSO's chopper unit was able to track Rios down overhead and saw him hiding in a dirt pit, apparently using his phone and making "dirt angels" while he waited for a chance to run.
Eventually, Rios did get up and jumped another fence where deputies were waiting for him.
He was arrested and charged with fleeing the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license, trespassing and resisting arrest.
