TAMPA, Fla. - The Tampa Police Department arrested a man suspected of stabbing, strangling and killing a 36-year-old woman.
James Leon Jackson, 68, of Tampa is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Diana Blumenberg Medina on Sept. 26, 2017.
Tampa police officers arrested Jackson around 1 p.m. Monday.
In September, police officers found Medina's body behind some bushes near the southeast corner of West Spruce Street and North Oregon Avenue. The police department said she was stabbed multiple times.
Forensic evidence led police officers to Jackson, who knew Medina. Officers arrested Jackson on unrelated drug possession charges two weeks after the suspected murder.
Jackson spent the last several months in jail before his arrest on Monday, according to Tampa police.
