ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — An officer with the St. Petersburg Police Department was arrested on assault charges around 8 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the department.
The officer, John Antoine, was arrested on one count of aggravated assault after he allegedly threatened the mother of his children on Aug. 28 "while in full uniform and armed," according to the police department.
The woman reportedly told her employer about the incident and the Pinellas Park Police Department launched an investigation since it happened in their jurisdiction.
Antoine was sworn in as a St. Petersburg police officer in October 2017, the department said. He was reportedly placed on unpaid administrative leave and his weapons have been seized.
