ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A person shot Friday morning at the Sarasota Commons shopping center has died from their injuries, the Sarasota Police Department said Saturday.
Police are asking anyone in the public who was at the shooting scene, which happened around 11:30 a.m. at the complex on 900 N. Beneva Road, to contact Detective Llovio at 941-809-3009.
This includes a person who spoke with a uniformed police officer at the scene and was wearing glasses and a tie-dye shirt at the time.
A spokesperson for the department earlier said that the person shot had been transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
No arrests have been made as police continue searching for the person or people involved.
"This is an active investigation," the department earlier posted on social media.
