SARASOTA, Fla. — A man was arrested after he was trying to return the school bus he stole when he was high and drunk, authorities said.
Daniel Saez, 32, stole a Hillsborough County School District bus on Saturday night and drove to Miami, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Land O'Lakes man was headed back toward Tampa in the bus when he was stopped by troopers early Sunday morning at the intersection of Jacaranda Boulevard and Executive Drive in Sarasota.
He told troopers he was high and drunk when he initially stole the bus and was headed back to Tampa to return the bus.
Saez was arrested for grand theft auto and booked into the county jail.
