Police: Sarasota woman arrested for stealing more than $1K worth of packages off front porch

According to police, she was wearing one of the pairs of shoes reported stolen the day before when she was arrested.

SARASOTA, Fla. — A 45-year-old woman was arrested out of Sarasota after being seen on surveillance video stealing multiple packages off a person's front porch, the Sarasota Police Department explained.

The video showed the woman, identified as Angelique Poquette, pull up to a home on Cosmopolitan Court in her white Infiniti sedan. She removed five packages off the front porch about an hour after they were delivered, according to police.

Altogether, the items reportedly added up to around $1,830 – with the packages containing multiple pairs of Converse shoes and different exterior LED lights.

"Two other residences in the immediate area reported stolen packages in the same period," the agency explained in a news release.

After putting them inside her car, Poquette is seen driving away. The camera captured two characters on the license plate.

After an investigation into the theft, detectives were able to identify the car and complete the tag.

The day after the packages were taken, the 45-year-old was pulled over by police on a felony warrant. According to the police department, she was wearing one of the pairs of shoes reported stolen the day before.

Since the car was used in the crime, it was seized by police and a search revealed cocaine inside. A glass pipe was also reportedly found in Poquette's pocket.

Poquette was arrested and is now facing multiple charges, including:

  • Grand Theft
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, with knowledge
