Deputies said the man was a suspect in multiple armed robbery incidents over the past few weeks and when they went to arrest him, he tried to escape.
TAMPA, Fla. — A man was caught on body camera footage leaping from balcony to balcony at a hotel in an attempt to escape deputies trying to arrest him.
Hillsborough County deputies went to The Godfrey Hotel in Tampa on Monday to arrest Jorge Garcia-Palacio who was a suspect involved in multiple armed robberies across the Tampa Bay area over the past few weeks, according to a Facebook post.

On Monday, July 22, 2024, #teamHCSO arrested Jorge Garcia-Palacio, a suspect involved in multiple armed robberies across the Bay area over the past few weeks. He was located at the Godfrey Hotel on Rocky Point. When detectives knocked on his door, he initially opened it but quickly locked it upon seeing them.
Despite attempting to escape by jumping from balcony to balcony and descending from the 6th floor to the 2nd floor, he was arrested and is now facing multiple charges.
"This suspect's dramatic attempts to escape were no match for our dedicated deputies," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "The strategic coordination between teamHCSO and the Tampa Police Department ensured his capture while prioritizing the safety of our community."

When detectives knocked on his room's door, he initially opened it but quickly locked it when he saw them. Garcia-Palacio then tried to escape by jumping from balcony to balcony and descending from the sixth to the second floor.
"This suspect's dramatic attempts to escape were no match for our dedicated deputies," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement.
Deputies eventually caught up to him and arrested him. They said he is now facing multiple charges.
