ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Three Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputies have been placed on leave after shooting an armed man during a domestic violence call Friday night in St. Pete.
Deputy Jessee Creaser, Deputy Dylan Schultz and Cpl. Stuart Kellman were all placed on paid administrative leave after the agency said they shot 42-year-old Jeremy Reed, who was charging at them with a gun.
In a news release, the St. Petersburg Police Department said the sheriff's office responded to the incident at a home at 2501 47th Avenue North.
Once deputies arrived, a woman met them outside the home with a teenage boy and girl. The girl reportedly told deputies that Reed, her mother's partner, had pointed a gun at her.
Deputies moved the woman and the teens to a safer area before moving in on the home and preparing to arrest the man.
Reed reportedly came out of the house running toward the deputies and victims. Creaser, Shultz and Kellman shot at the man and struck him, according to the sheriff's office.
Reed was taken to the hospital. In a video, St. Petersburg Assistant Police Chief David Gerardo said the 42-year-old is in critical condition.
