The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office is warning of the dangers of phone apps after arresting a man who allegedly used one to have sex with young girls.
Tyler James Dempsey, 23, of Bayonet Point is charged with sexual battery of a 12-year-old girl.
Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said Dempsey met the girl through the phone app Whisper.
Dempsey asked the girl if she wanted to have sex and she didn’t understand what he meant, the arrest affidavit said.
Deputies said Dempsey picked her up, had sex with her and took her back to where he picked her up.
The victim talked to a counselor on Monday, which prompted deputies to launch an investigation.
