FORT PIERCE, Fla. — One person was killed in a plane crash at an airport in St. Lucie County.
Deputies responded to the crash at 1:20 p.m. Saturday and found the plane on its roof with two people trapped inside at the Treasure Coast International Airport, according to a Facebook post from the St. Lucie County Fire District.
Crews extracted the two people from the twin-engine Piper Aircraft. One was taken to a local hospital and the other died on the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash, according to an X post by the agency.
No other information was immediately available.
