FHP searching for driver in hit-and-run that left 43-year-old seriously injured in Sarasota County

The driver was likely traveling in an Orange Hyundai Elantra with a missing driver-side mirror, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

NOKOMIS, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run that left a 43-year-old man seriously injured early Friday morning in Sarasota County.

In a news release, troopers said the incident happened around 3:04 a.m. at the intersection of Albee Farm Road and Colonia Lane in Nokomis.

The driver was reportedly traveling north on Albee Farm Road while the 43-year-old was walking across the travel lanes. The driver struck the man with the left side of the car before taking off, according to FHP.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for serious injuries. Troopers say the driver was likely traveling in an Orange Hyundai Elantra with a missing driver-side mirror at the time of the incident.
