Deputies: 2 dead after man kills a mother, steals her car and kills another man before fleeing from deputies

The suspect allegedly took the woman's car from the scene where deputies found her body before he got into a fight with another man, killing him.

TAMPA, Fla. — A mother died after being killed by a man before he took her car, killed another person and ran from deputies in Tampa.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call just after 2 p.m. Saturday on Alvarado Drive near Los Altos Way for a report of a dead body. When they arrived, they found Lianet Santos Sosa, 31, who was dead at the scene.

Detectives learned Silvio Ramon Franco Peralta, 35, was dropped off at her house and killed Sosa while she was in the bathroom. Sosa's 5-year-old daughter left the house and told three people that her mother was killed.

The child told deputies she was in the bedroom with her mother when Franco Peralta walked in, took Sosa to the bathroom and killed her. The medical examiner's office said Sosa was stabbed 13 times when she was unarmed.

"It is devastating to know that a 5-year-old child will grow up without their mother because of the senseless violence of this evil man. His complete disregard for human life has forever altered the lives of two families," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement.

Franco Peralta then fled the scene in Sosa's car before being involved in an altercation with another person in Tampa resulting in Franco Peralta killing him, deputies said.

While deputies were working on the homicide of Sosa, Tampa Police detectives responded to an aggravated battery call on North Packwood Avenue just before 3 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man dead with upper body trauma, according to a news release.

Tampa police said Franco Peralta told detectives that he went to a house on North Packwood Avenue and confessed to the male victim what happened to Sosa and wanted help to get rid of the weapon and other property. When the man tried to go back into his house, Franco Peralta stabbed him five times and then ran away, according to Hillsborough County court documents.

Law enforcement tracked down Franco Peralta, and they crashed into his car after he wouldn't stop. Franco Peralta tried to run away but was arrested and taken into custody, according to deputies.

He is facing multiple charges including murder in the first degree with a weapon, armed burglary, grand theft of a motor vehicle and fleeing to elude, according to court documents. The state is also asking for him to be held on no bond because they believe he has ties to Cuba and think he is a flight risk, court documents said.
