An ambulance crash left four people seriously injured on Saturday.

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. — One person is fighting for his life and three others are seriously injured after a man crashed into an ambulance in Largo early Saturday morning.

Willie Lee Daniels, 41, was driving his BMW X1 at 2:44 a.m. when deputies pulled him over for a traffic violation. Daniels initially stopped but then quickly made a U-turn and took off. After, the deputy didn't pursue him and resumed normal driving, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

As he was driving away, he hit an ambulance in the intersection of East Bay Drive and North Missouri Avenue. When Daniels hit the ambulance, it flipped on its side, deputies said.

Willie Lee Daniels' BMW collided with an ambulance at a Largo intersection.

The driver of the ambulance was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the 70-year-old patient and 28-year-old medic who was treating the patient in the back were also hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Daniels was also hospitalized with serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said criminal charges are pending and the speed and impairment of Daniels appear to be factors of the crash.
