BRANDON, Fla. — Deputies arrested a man accused of shooting another person in the face at a McDonald's restaurant in Brandon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Monte Outlaw, 25, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft and battery, the agency said in a news release. He's been arrested more than three times in the past six months, it added.
Law enforcement says he and an 18-year-old man met just after 8:30 p.m. at the McDonald's at 502 W. Brandon Blvd. to use the internet and charge their devices. At some point, both started to fight.
Outlaw reached into his waistband, pulled out a BB gun and shot the other man in the nose.
The man received treatment at an area hospital.
"I'm appalled this man chose to turn his argument violent, and I'm proud of our deputies' swift investigation and arrest," Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. "This man will have a long time to think about his actions in the confines of the Falkenburg Road Jail."
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
