SPRING HILL, Fla. — A Spring Hill man is facing an attempted homicide charge after deputies say he shot his brother during an argument over a note.
The Hernando County Sheriff's Office says it received a call at around 5:19 a.m. Tuesday about a shooting that happened in the area of Stillwater Avenue and Copperfield Road.
The caller, 24-year-old Navor Mora, reportedly told authorities he got into an argument with his older brother that eventually led to shooting him.
When they arrived, deputies treated Mora's brother and took him to a local trauma center. They say he is expected to make a full recovery.
Deputies say Mora told them his brother slid a note under his door calling him a "bum" and saying he needed to get a job. After receiving the note, Mora reportedly got dressed, confronted his brother with a firearm and then punched him in the chin.
A woman involved in the altercation told authorities she tried to intervene between the two before Mora fell on top of her. After Mora fell, he shot his brother multiple times, the sheriff's office says.
Mora told detectives he was not trying to kill his brother.
Mora was arrested and charged with one count of attempted first-degree homicide. He was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
