Man killed in shooting at Copeland Park in Tampa

Based on a preliminary investigation, police say the man and the suspected shooter were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical.

TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police are investigating a deadly shooting Friday night at Copeland Park.

Officers were called just after 7:15 p.m. to 11001 N. 15th Street.

They arrived to find a man in his early 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police say the man and the suspected shooter were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical. The shooter, described as a thin, balding man, reportedly rode off on his bicycle.
