LARGO, Fla. — A 35-year-old Largo man is facing 10 counts of child pornography in addition to multiple felony charges after being accused of defrauding customers while being employed at CPurelife Medi-Spa.
The Largo Police Department says it found digital evidence of pornographic material depicting minors while searching Andrew Furtado's home for the fraud investigation.
The pornographic material triggered a subsequent investigation into Furtado, which led to the additional charges, police said.
The 35-year-old was accused of inflated sales at CPurelife Medi-Spa, which increased commissions, and was believed to have stolen thousands of dollars worth of spa treatments and equipment, the department said.
After being fired from his job, Furtado was also believed to have downloaded client lists and altered the spa's data system.
Furtado is charged with offenses against intellectual property, offenses against users of computers, computer systems, computer networks, and electronic devices, Florida Communications Fraud Act, unlawful possession of the personal identification information of another person, unlawful use of a two-way communications device
and ten counts of possession of child pornography.
