RIVERVIEW, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect after a man was found dead following an apparent road rage incident on Highway 301 in Riverview.
HCSO Public Information Coordinator Casey Minuto said deputies responded around 2:15 p.m. Sunday after receiving a call that a man had been shot on Highway 301 at Bloomingdale Avenue.
Deputies found the man with wounds to his upper body and he was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital, where he eventually died from his injuries.
"At this point in the investigation, our detectives have learned that our suspect did flee the scene," Minuto said.
Little is known about what led up to the incident, but Minuto said that, according to preliminary details from investigators, "one vehicle had cut off another one," which led to a fight before the man was killed.
Minuto added that it's still early in the investigation and that anyone who knows anything about the case should call the sheriff's office at 813-247-8000 or submit an anonymous tip through one of the following options:
- Tip 411 (HCSOSheriff) App available on Apple App Store or Google Play
- Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay
"I know, it's very preliminary," Minuto said. "Our detectives are just piecing together exactly what happened here."
