RIVERVIEW, Fla. — A 20-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after deputies say he was involved in a deadly road rage incident Tuesday afternoon in Riverview.
Jorge Ramirez may also have additional charges forthcoming.
At around 2:45 p.m., authorities arrived at the corner of Rose Lane and Baytree Drive following a report of a shooting, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, deputies say they found a man – who has been identified as 34-year-old Bryan Proenza – with multiple gunshot wounds.
Law enforcement reportedly saw Ramirez outside of his home down the street from where the incident occurred.
Proenza was being transported to a hospital but died due to his injuries.
"Our hearts break for this family who lost a loved one in the face of senseless violence," Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “At this time, our detectives are meticulously piecing together the moments that led up to this fatal shooting.
"While this investigation is active, we urge anyone who might have witnessed the incident to please come forward."
