Police arrest man accused in Pinellas Park hit-and-run that left 1 man critically injured

Investigators say they discovered the driver after receiving anonymous tips about a vehicle with suspicious damage.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. — The suspected driver involved in a Pinellas Park hit-and-run crash that left a man seriously injured has been arrested, police say.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Thursday, May 9 in the area of 66th Street near 94th Avenue, where Pinellas Park Police say they found 46-year-old Dominick Venose lying in the roadway.

Venose was reportedly crossing the roadway midblock when a car driving northbound hit him and left the scene before authorities arrived.

Venose is currently in critical condition at a local hospital, the department says.

Over the weekend, investigators said they received an anonymous tip about a vehicle with suspicious damage over the weekend. After contacting the owner of the vehicle, 62-year-old Scott Muli was identified as the driver during the hit-and-run.

On Monday, Muli was arrested at his St. Petersburg home and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury. He has been booked in the Pinellas County Jail.

"The Pinellas Park Police Department wants to remind the motoring public that if they are involved in a motor vehicle collision, they must stop and remain at the scene and notify law enforcement," the department said in a statement.
