ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A man is charged with first-degree murder after police say he is connected to the death of a woman who was believed to be missing.
St. Petersburg Police Department officials have charged 23-year-old Ivan Edward for the death of 42-year-old Kelli Fisher.
Investigators say Fisher was last seen on July 16 leaving her aunt's car and was reported missing the following day. On July 18, officers say they found her car abandoned in an empty lot.
Fisher's family made an emotional plea for more information about her whereabouts on July 30.
Two days after the plea, a medical examiner confirmed that Fisher's remains were found with multiple stab wounds in a burned-out house located in the area of Prescott Street South.
Police say Edward was known to Fisher and was even a family acquaintance.
Edward is already in custody for charges related to auto theft and armed burglary from July 29.
