Police: Man was driving without license when he hit, killed pedestrian in Tampa

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

TAMPA, Fla. — A woman is dead after authorities say a driver without a valid license hit her with his vehicle.

Tampa police say they responded to a reported pedestrian versus vehicle crash after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of South Carter Street and West Julia Street.

When they arrived, they pronounced a woman dead at the scene.

Investigators say they later discovered that 42-year-old Junior Castillo Sanchez was driving northbound in the area when he failed to see the woman crossing at the intersection. They also say he had never been issued a valid driver's license.

Sanchez was arrested and taken to Orient Road Jail. He is charged with one felony count of driving without a valid driver's license(death or serious bodily injury).
