BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida man who allegedly drove 108 mph on Interstate 95 is charged with reckless driving after deputies said he was in a hurry to see his girlfriend, local news outlets report.
According to a report from WKMG-TV, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office arrested 27-year-old Axel Sobrevilla of North Lauderdale on Saturday.
The article explains that deputies received a call regarding a red Toyota Camry weaving through traffic and driving in the emergency lane.
Authorities would eventually find the vehicle near the West King Street overpass in Cocoa. Once he was pulled over, Sobrevilla reportedly told deputies he was traveling to see his girlfriend in North Carolina.
In another report from Fox 35, arrest records show Sobrevilla has a mandatory court date scheduled for May 13.
"Due to Mr. Sobrevilla driving his vehicle with willful disregard for the safety of other persons or property around him, he was placed under arrest for reckless driving," the arrest affidavit reportedly said.
News outlets said Sobrevilla has been transported to the Brevard County Jail.
