POLK COUNTY, Fla. — A man was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly led Florida Highway Patrol troopers on a high-speed chase from Polk County, through Osceola and eventually Orange County, the agency said in a news release.
The driver, Anthony Hoyte, is reportedly facing several charges, including fleeing and eluding, reckless driving and a separate Georgia warrant for aggravated assault with a weapon.
The chase began around 10:45 p.m. when troopers received a call from the Polk County Sheriff's Office for help in stopping a driver who sped away from deputies, FHP said.
Troopers were able to find Hoyte driving a Mercedes sedan on I-4 before attempting to pull him over, according to the agency. Hoyte continued driving, reportedly reaching speed over 130 mph and leading troopers into Osceola County and eventually Orange County before exiting onto State Route 408.
The chase continued on Florida's Turnpike and then back on I-4 before troopers were able to get Hoyte to stop, the agency said.
Hoyte was booked into the Orange County Jail after his arrest, troopers said.
