ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — A 33-year-old man was arrested after allegedly striking a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy's patrol car just after midnight on Saturday in Zephyrhills.

Troy Cochran reportedly hit the patrol car as deputies were trying to stop him while responding to a disturbance around 12:38 a.m., the agency stated in an X post.

 He has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Deadly Weapon
  • Felon in Possession Firearm
  • Felony Fleeing to Elude
  • DUI 2nd Conviction

Dashcam video from the sheriff's office shows when the patrol car was hit while the deputy was still inside.

"I just got rammed," the deputy can be heard saying before taking off after Cochran.

After catching up with the suspect, the deputy points his gun at the suspect while repeatedly telling him to get down.

"Handcuff me, handcuff me," Cochran replies.

In the X post, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister said Cochran's alleged actions showed "a complete disregard for public safety."

"We will continue to protect our community from dangerous criminals such as this one," Chronister said. "We are grateful that no one was seriously injured."
