A St. Petersburg man is in jail after gluing the doors to a Wendy's resturaunt and several cars shut, Pinellas Park police said.

According to affidavits, about 3:25 a.m., Rex Bryon Staton, 54, went to the restaurant on U.S. 19 and sprayed tire inflator into the door and keyholes. He was seen on video, police said.

The damage cost $1,200 to repair, and the restaurant was unable to open for four hours, police said.

Then about 2 p.m., Staton went to the parking lot of Home Depot and squirted glue into the door handles of three cars, police said.

He also reportedly threw paint at the front door and walkway of European Bakery and Grocery on Park Boulevard. He, too, is accused of taking a container for cigarette butts from the front of a Walmart liquor store.

When Staton was arrested, police said he told them he vandalized the Wendy's and the vehicles because they were "hunting" him.

He was charged with one count of criminal mischief, four counts of criminal mischief - greater than $200 and less than $1,000, one count of criminal mischief - greater than $1,000, petit theft and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.

Jail records show Staton has been arrested multiple times since 2006, including for domestic battery, retail theft and assault on a law enforcement officer.
